Andrea Powers, Founder of Powers Yoga
For Andrea Powers, yoga was never just a physical fitness routine; it was the sacred container she desperately needed to ground and harness a lifelong spiritual calling.
Her extraordinary path began long before she ever stepped onto a yoga mat. At just six years old, Andrea received a profound spiritual calling. By age seven, she met her Taino ancestral guide, and at nineteen, she experienced a spontaneous, powerful Kundalini awakening. This sudden, intense rush of transformative energy was beautiful, but it was also overwhelming. She knew she had been touched by something much larger than herself, but she needed a way to ground it, understand it, and harness it.
That search for ultimate alignment is what made her give up a track scholarship and dedicated herself to yoga.
Over the next two decades, Andrea grew her business into a successful, multi-dimensional professional studio. She became a force in the regional wellness industry, spearheading the Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP) yoga craze in Northern New Jersey. She partnered with five major Lifetime Fitness locations, caught the attention of producers from Shark Tank, and presented her teachings at the prestigious Yoga Journal Conference using a custom yoga board she invented.
Yet, despite the packed classes, the industry acclaim, and the thriving business, Andrea felt a persistent quiet whisper. None of the external accolades made her feel like she was truly living her deepest calling.
The turning point came when she felt called to the quiet, powerful red rocks of Sedona. It was there, in the stillness of the desert, that her path truly evolved.
Andrea realized her deepest work wasn't about commercial success; it was about stepping fully into her calling as a healer. She realized that the true meaning of yoga is to connect deeply with a higher source which, for her, is God and to help others do the same.
